DOST Scholarship 2024 program is now open to apply for all aspiring college students in the Philippines. Recently, DOST – the Department of Science and Technology has announced the opening of online applications for its scholarship program for the school year 2024-2025.

DOST Scholarship 2024

The Department of Science and Technology – DOST is an government agency, responsible for the growth and development of Science and Technology in the Philippines. DOST provides centralized direction, leadership, and coordinates scientific and technological activities; as well as formulates policies, programs, and projects to support national development.

DOST Scholarship is one of the best scholarships for the college students as it is a government funded scholarship and covers all expenses related to your education. The Department of Science and Technology is calling in applications from applications from all interested and eligible college students to apply for DOST Scholarship 2024-2025 program.

Types of DOST Scholarship

The Department of Science and Technology offers two types of scholarships for S&T Undergraduate students and they are as follows:

  • Merit Scholarship
  • RA 7687 Scholarship

Merit Scholarship

The DOST-SEI Merit Scholarship Program, which is also known as The NSDB Or NSTA Scholarship Under RA No. 2067, is given to those students who have High Aptitude in Science And Mathematics and are willing to pursue careers in the fields of Science and Technology.

RA 7687 Scholarship

The Republic Act No. 7687, also known as the “Science And Technology Scholarship Act Of 1994”, provides scholarships to talented and deserving students whose families’ Socio-Economic status does not exceed the set cut-off values of certain indicators. Qualifiers for this scholarship must pursue priority fields of study in the Basic Sciences, Engineering, Other Applied Sciences, and Science and Mathematics Teaching.

Benefits of DOST Scholarship

Following is the list of benefits a DOST Scholar will receive:

A. Regular Academic Year

  • Tuition and other school fees (for scholars enrolled in private HEIs) – Actual fees up to ₱40,000.00 / year
  • Learning Materials and/or Connectivity Allowance – ₱10,000.00 / year
  • Monthly Living Allowance – ₱7,000.00 / month
  • Clothing Allowance – ₱1,000.00 (1st Sem of 1st Year Only)
  • Transportation Allowance (for those studying outside of home province) – 1 economy-class roundtrip fare
  • Group Health and Accident Insurance – Premium
  • Thesis Allowance – ₱10,000.00
  • Graduation Allowance – ₱1,000.00

B. Mid-Year TermAllowance (if required in the curriculum)

  • Tuition and other school fees – Actual fees up to ₱10,000.00
  • Learning Materials and/or Connectivity Allowance – ₱2,000.00
  • Monthly Living Allowance – ₱7,000.00 / month for two months

Qualifications for Scholarship

Following is the list of qualifications required to apply for DOST Scholarship:

  1. The applicant must be natural-born Filipino citizen.
  2. He or She must be of good moral character and in good health.
  3. Qualifications
    1. Graduating Grade 12 male and female students in SY 2023-2024:
      • STEM STRAND: All students belonging to the STEM class
      • NON-STEM STRAND: Must be in the top 5% of the graduating class
    2. Graduate of Grade 12 before SY 2023-2024 and did not enroll in college yet:
      • STEM STRAND: All students belonging to the STEM class
      • NON-STEM STRAND: Must be in the top 5% of the graduating class
    3. Graduate of high school before the K-12 Program. Must belong to the top 5% of the graduating class.
  4. May have taken the DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship Examination but did not qualify for the scholarship; OR may have qualified for the DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship but did not avail of the award; OR have not taken any DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship Examination.
  5. Must NOT have earned any post-secondary (college or vocational) units.

Documentary Requirements

The list of documents required to apply for DOST Scholarship are as follows:

Following is the list of documents required to apply for DOST scholarship:

  • Form C – Certificate of Good Moral Character
  • Form D – Certificate of Good Health
  • Principal’s Certification
  • Form Form E1 – Applicant who is Grade 12 Graduating/Graduated student in the STEM strand
  • Form Form E2 – Applicant who is Grade 12 Graduating/Graduated student in NON-STEM strand and belongs to the upper 5% of the class
  • Form Form E3 – Applicant who is attending homeschool
  • Form Form E4 – Applicant who is under the Alternative Learning System
  • Form Form E5 – Applicant who graduated in High School before the K-12 program and belongs to the upper 5% of the graduating class
  • Form F – Certificate of Residency
  • Form G – Parent’s Certification – Applicant has no pending immigration application to another country
  • Form H – DOST-SEI Scholarship Examination/Award
  • Form I – Applicant’s Certification of No Post-Secondary Units
  • Form J – Signed Declaration of Applicant and the Parent/Legal Guardian
  • Recent picture – passport size (4.5 cm x 3.5 cm or 1.8 inches x 1.4 inches)
  • Birth Certificate
  • Proof of Income – Parent/s or Legal Guardian’s or Spouse’s 2022 Income Tax Return / BIR Form 1701 / Employment Contract for OFW / BIR Certificate of Exemption from Filing of ITR / Certificate of Indigency / Certificate of Employment with Compensation / Proof of Pension
  • Notarized Affidavit of Guardianship
  • Marriage Certificate

DOST Priority Courses

To be eligible to apply for DOST Scholarship, a student must enroll or be enrolled in any of the priority courses recognized by DOST. Here is the complete list of DOST Priority Courses for the school year 2024-2025.

Application Timeline for DOST Scholarship

  • The Online Application for DOST Scholarship starts on 17 October 2023
  • The Last Day of Request for School Inclusion in the E-Application System is 15 December 2023
  • Deadline date of Online Application is 31 December 2023

It is an advise to all the students to apply for the scholarship before deadline date to avoid last minute rush.
